Casa Cartagena: Where Walls Whisper Centuries

Only 15 suites, Only 33 guests. 500 years of history awaiting you

In the most exclusive area of Cusco's historic center, steps from Plaza de Armas, where Inca foundations support colonial arches, Casa Cartagena is not just a hotel: it's your private gateway to Peru's living history. This 16th-century mansion, protected by UNESCO, has been the home of nobles, the refuge of explorers, and now, your personal sanctuary before conquering Machu Picchu.

THE EXPERIENCE ONLY 33 PEOPLE CAN LIVE EACH NIGHT

Suites that breathe history
Each of our 15 unique suites embraces the colonial courtyard from private carved wooden balconies. The pure Andean air, enriched with oxygen, naturally prepares you for altitude while you rest within a unique curation: authentic pre-Columbian textiles in our lobbies dialogue with contemporary Andean art and designer furniture in the suites. A fusion where archaeological pieces from centuries past converse with current creations made with millenary techniques.

Rituals that awaken the soul
In our Inca-inspired spa, local therapists combine ancient techniques with sacred Andean plants. This isn't just relaxation: it's an initiation into Andean wisdom.

Dinners under Inca constellations
While Southern Hemisphere stars dance above colonial tiles, our chef fuses ancestral ingredients with contemporary techniques. Each dish tells the story of the encounter between two worlds.

Your sanctuary before Machu Picchu
From Casa Cartagena, you don't just travel to the lost citadel: you arrive prepared, we are the secret that mass tours never touch. Our expert concierge advises you on unique and authentic experiences that only locals know. We help you design your perfect adventure, from exclusive encounters with Andean artisans to private ceremonies in little-visited sacred sites.

THIS IS NOT TOURISM. THIS IS BELONGING

In a world saturated with manufactured experiences, Casa Cartagena offers you the only thing that cannot be fabricated: time. Time to feel how the past converses with the present in every stone, in every Andean dawn, in every moment of quietude in our colonial courtyard.

Here you don't come to photograph history. You come to live it.

Luxury with roots. History that is inhabited. Peru that is felt.

Welcome to Casa Cartagena: Sustainable Tourism with a Cusqueñan Soul

At Casa Cartagena, we believe that true luxury lies in traveling with purpose. Every experience is woven with sustainability, cultural respect, and genuine commitment to our Andean heritage.

Our team, born among these sacred mountains, are storytellers of ancestral tales, guardians of millenary traditions, and passionate ambassadors of Quechua culture who share the authentic warmth of the Cusqueñan people.

The flavors that awaken your senses are born in Incan cultivation terraces, working directly with farmers from high-Andean communities who grow quinoa, native potatoes, and aromatic herbs at over 3,500 meters altitude, while every decorative element—from textiles woven by master artisans from Chinchero to Cusqueñan ceramics and works by Peruvian artists, alongside pre-Columbian textiles and archaeological pieces showcased for our guests' delight—is a window into Peruvian creativity where local designers reinterpret ancestral techniques with modern vision.

Our colonial mansion from the 16th century, one of eight Cusqueñan residences declared Cultural Heritage of the Peruvian Nation and protected by UNESCO, has been restored using traditional techniques so that every preserved stone allows you to feel the same historical connection as past generations.

Every decision we make reflects our deep commitment to the planet, from responsible water management practices to constant support for our local community, understanding that preserving this Andean paradise means preserving the extraordinary experience you seek.

At Casa Cartagena, your journey doesn't just transform your perspective of the world. It transforms the world itself, one conscious experience at a time.

Casa Cartagena: UNESCO Protected Heritage

Casa Cartagena: UNESCO Protected Heritage

In the heart of historic Cusco, Casa Cartagena Boutique Hotel & Spa stands as a living testament to millenary history, protected by the prestigious UNESCO Blue Shield, an international emblem that distinguishes monuments of exceptional world value.

Built upon Incan foundations and restored using ancestral techniques, our 16th-century colonial mansion has been declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation. Each stone of these sacred walls, which once housed Incan and colonial nobility, continues to safeguard centuries of history and the mysticism that can only be experienced in these unique spaces.

When you walk through our carved stone corridors, you're not just admiring colonial architecture; you inhabit the same spaces where Peru's mestizo identity was forged, creating the cultural legacy that defines your Cusqueñan experience.

At Casa Cartagena, you don't just stay in history. You inhabit it, breathe it, carry it in your soul forever.

Its Unique History: From Inca Nobility to Colonial Legacy

Its Unique History: From Inca Nobility to Colonial Legacy

Casa Cartagena owes its name to Cusco's encomendero Fernando Cartagena y Santa Cruz (1640), whose influence marked the colonial history of the imperial city.

Built upon a millenary Inca complex that housed the nobility of Tahuantinsuyo, each space preserves the original carved stone walls that witnessed the encounter between two civilizations. The rooms showcase colonial frescoes, centuries-old carved woods, and unique details restored by master craftsmen.

Casa Cartagena is UNESCO Cultural Heritage: the place where you can touch history and awaken in the epicenter where Andean identity was forged.
